FGV EESP’s undergraduate economics course offers students a solid and pluralistic education, with a strong quantitative emphasis.
The learning environment is modern, innovative and dynamic. The course pursues excellence and recognition of academic merit. FGV EESP seeks to give students a solid and complete education, encompassing the various schools of economic thought.
FGV EESP is composed of professors who have come from the best education institutions in Brazil and abroad, with vast teaching, research and professional experience in the private sector and in senior positions at the federal government (ministers of finance, planning, science and technology, management and state reform) and at state governments (finance and planning secretaries).
FGV EESP uses the problem-based learning teaching methodology for its undergraduate course. This methodology establishes a learning environment that stimulates cognitive processes that are effective for learning. Based on concrete economic situations, students learn models and instruments of economic theory in a motivational environment, with intense group discussions, experimentation and the solving of complex problems. Students are immersed in an intensive study routine and they play an active role in the learning process. In this process, students are constantly motivated and challenged to use their theoretical knowledge to find solutions to complex problems. Thus, a fertile environment is established for the development of logical and critical reasoning skills, enhancing students’ capacity and learning autonomy. In addition, the activities conducted in the undergraduate course help students to refine their “21st-century skills,” such as leadership, communication, organization, decision making, resilience and persistence.
